-----------------------------------------------------------

PREAMBLE
The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide
development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation
efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and
open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership
with others.

The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and
redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The
fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded,
redistributed and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved
names are not used by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives,
however, cannot be released under any other type of license. The
requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply
to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives.

DEFINITIONS
"Font Software" refers to the set of files released by the Copyright
Holder(s) under this license and clearly marked as such. This may
include source files, build scripts and documentation.

"Reserved Font Name" refers to any names specified as such after the
copyright statement(s).

"Original Version" refers to the collection of Font Software components as
distributed by the Copyright Holder(s).

"Modified Version" refers to any derivative made by adding to, deleting,
or substituting -- in part or in whole -- any of the components of the
Original Version, by changing formats or by porting the Font Software to a
new environment.

"Author" refers to any designer, engineer, programmer, technical
writer or other person who contributed to the Font Software.

Software, subject to the following conditions:

1) Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components,
in Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself.

2) Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled,
redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy
contains the above copyright notice and this license. These can be
included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or
in the appropriate machine-readable metadata fields within text or
binary files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user.

3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font
Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding
Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the primary font name as
presented to the users.

4) The name(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) or the Author(s) of the Font
Software shall not be used to promote, endorse or advertise any
Modified Version, except to acknowledge the contribution(s) of the

The AlgolRevived Font Package
--------------------------

AlgolRevived is a geometric serifed typeface reviving the Algol font designed by Adrian Frutiger in 1963 for typesetting the code portions of a manual on ALGOL. Two weights are provided: regular and medium, with both upright and slanted versions. Though the font is designed for typesetting code, it is not monospaced, and in my opinion, it doesnt look too bad if you have a fondness for text with a typewritten appearance with few typeset frills like f-ligatures, small caps and old-style figures.

The fonts are provided in OpenType and PostScript formats,are released under SIL's OFL, details of which are spelled out in the file OFL.txt accompanying the package.

The TeX font metrics, font definition files and other support files for AlgolRevived,
i.e., the other files in the archive algolrevived.zip, may be distributed and/or modified
under the conditions of the LaTeX Project Public License, either version 1.3 of
this license or (at your option) any later version. The latest version of this
license is in http://www.latex-project.org/lppl.txt and version 1.3 or later is
part of all distributions of LaTeX version 2003/12/01 or later. All files in that archive are

 Copyright (c) 2017 Michael Sharpe

Files provided "as is", with no warranties.

The support files are provided in encodings OT1, T1, TS1 and LY1 for users of Western scripts.

Current version: 1.01 2017-07-11

Changes in version 1.01
1. Added overlooked typewriter support (.sty and .fd files) for LaTeX.
2. Small documentation changes.

It is a pleasure to record my gratitude to Chuck Bigelow who provided a detailed critique of an earlier version of these fonts, which was most helpful in refining the glyph shapes and spacing.

\begin{document}
\maketitle
\emph{AlgolRevived} is a revival of the (photo)font \emph{Algol} by Adrian Frutiger whose sole use was for printing ALGOL code in a manual. It is not meant to be a general purpose text font---the spacing is not optimized for that, being designed instead for printing computer code, where each letter should be distinct and text ligatures are banished. It seems to work well with the {\tt listings} package, designed for exactly that purpose. Unusually for such a font, it is not monospaced, though perhaps this is no longer the issue it was in the days of FORTRAN.

Nonetheless, if you don't object to a typewritten appearance, I think the font doesn't really look as bad as you might think it should. (This document uses it as its main text font.)

Both opentype and type1 fonts are provided, along with LaTeX support files. Most characters in the T1 encoding are provided, except for f-ligatures and the Sami characters Eng, eng.

\textbf{Use with fontspec}

The package provides algolrevived.fontspec, with contents:

\begin{verbatim}
\defaultfontfeatures[algolrevived]
{
 Extension = .otf,
 UprightFont = AlgolRevived ,
 BoldFont = AlgolRevived-Medium ,
 BoldItalicFont = AlgolRevived-MediumSlanted ,
 ItalicFont = AlgolRevived-Slanted ,
}
\end{verbatim}
which allows you to set up your preamble using simply
\begin{verbatim}
...
\usepackage{fontspec}
\setmainfont{algolrevived} % for use as main font
%\setmonofont{algolrevived} % for use as typewriter font only
...
\end{verbatim}
\newpage

\textbf{Use with LaTeX}

The package offers OT1, LY1, T1 and TS1 encodings, and sets T1 as the default. To change to LY1, you will need something like

\begin{verbatim}
\usepackage{algolrevived}
%\usepackage[tt]{algolrevived} for just typewriter
\usepackage[LY1]{fontenc}
\end{verbatim}

AlgolRevived-tlf-t1.tfm:
\fonttable{AlgolRevived-tlf-t1}

The package has a few options and macros. The option \texttt{scaled=.95} or \texttt{scale=.95} renders at 95\% of the default size, and option \texttt{medium} makes medium weight LaTeX's regular weight. Option \texttt{tt} species typewriter. The macros \verb|{\sufigures 9}| (same effect as \verb|\textsu{9}|) render the figure as a superscript, \textsu{9}, and similarly with \verb|\infigures|, \verb|\textin| for inferior figures.

The sty file requires textcomp so there is no need to load it separately. Textcomp adds the following glyphs. (The mathematical symbols in the otherwise vacant slots in positions 192 and up were mostly borrowed from the STIX math fonts, which use the same SIL OFL as this package. The names below were in those cases are the same as the STIX names, prefixed by "text".)
