1. What is CTeX?

CTeX is a trademark of Prosoft International.

CTeX 2.1 is a pure and portable extension of TeX and its DVI drivers.
It is designed specifically for the professional oriental language
typesetting community. In CTeX, oriental languages are not longer
the ``foreign languages'' in the TeX community. All features of the
existing TeX and its DVI drivers are extended to the oriental languages.
In addition, CTeX provides the following unique features for the
professional document production:
o supporting multiple oriental languages and coding schemes ( up to 128 )
    in a single document.
o supporting a large number of oriental fonts up to 128. An oriental
font is a font of thousands characters. For instance, GB Kai Ti is
taken as one font of 6,763 chars.
o supporting both outline and bitmap fonts. The outline font manager
of CTeX is just much faster than any other font managers. For instance,
on a 486/33MHz PC, it generates 17 distinct characters per second.
o supporting user defined bitmap symbols. The Quick Bitmap Interface,
as a standard component of CTeX, lets you generate bitmap symbols in
    one step.
o spliting your printer files. You not longer need to worry about the
printer errors due to your extensive use of fonts, and you not longer
need to split your TeX files because of the limited font capacity of
    your printer.
