Some special characters --- # $ % ^ & ~ _; can be input without backslash.
And a math expression --- \( \sqrt{a^2+b^2} \). It \emph{must} be enclosed in
\verb+\(+ ... \verb+\)+ for inline mode, the usual $ ... $ method does not work
here.
