============================================================
      Berthold (Adobe) ConcordeBE font pack for LaTeX
============================================================
                                                  2004-08-08
                                              Walter Schmidt
                                      w.a.schmidt(at)gmx.net

This bundle includes all files required to use the Berthold
ConcordeBE Type1 fonts with LaTeX on the Un*x or PC
platform. It does, however, _not_ include the actual Type1
fonts, which are to be purchased.

In particular, use of the following fonts is supported:

  ConcordeBE-Regular
  ConcordeBE-Italic
  ConcordeBE-Medium
  ConcordeBE-MediumItalic
  ConcordeBE-RegularExp
  ConcordeBE-ItalicExp
  ConcordeBE-MediumExp
  ConcordeBE-MediumItalicExp

Note that the ConcordeBE fonts belong to the "Adobe Berthold
Exklusiv Collection"; they are to be distinguished from the
ConcordeBQ fonts, which belong to the "Berhold Quality
Collection".

The below installation instructions assume a TDS-compliant
TeX system, such as teTeX, fpTeX, MikTeX or VTeX/Free. The
directory name "texmf" refers to the root directory of the
TDS directory tree. In case your TeX systems has more than
one such directory tree, the documentation should tell you
where to install new files.

Change Log
----------
2004-08-08
   Fixed a potential bug in the macro package

2004-01-18
  Improved kerning data.
  Faked Euro symbol.
  Location of font map file poc.ali changed to
  texmf/fonts/map/vtex/poc.ali.
  xconcorde.sty: default scaling ratio changed to 92%

Removing obsolete files
-----------------------
In case you are going to install this collection over a
previous release, please make sure that the directory

  texmf/tex/latex/adobe/concorde/

and the files

  texmf/doc/latex/adobe/concorde.txt
  texmf/vtex/config/poc.ali

are deleted before.

Installing the Type1 font files
-------------------------------
The Type1 font files, as supplied by Berthold, are to be
renamed for use with TeX:

  PostScript-FontName:       Berthold:         TeX:
  ConcordeBE-Regular         qqrg____.pfb  ->  pocr8a.pfb
  ConcordeBE-Italic          qqi_____.pfb  ->  pocri8a.pfb
  ConcordeBE-Medium          qqm_____.pfb  ->  pocm8a.pfb
  ConcordeBE-MediumItalic    qqmi____.pfb  ->  pocmi8a.pfb
  ConcordeBE-RegularExp      qqrgx___.pfb  ->  pocr8x.pfb
  ConcordeBE-ItalicExp       qqixp___.pfb  ->  pocri8x.pfb
  ConcordeBE-MediumExp       qqmxp___.pfb  ->  pocm8x.pfb
  ConcordeBE-MediumItalicExp qqmix___.pfb  ->  pocmi8x.pfb

The .pfb files are to be copied to the directory

  texmf/fonts/type1/adobe/concorde

of your TeX system. The related .afm files are to be
renamed accordingly; install them into the directory

  texmf/fonts/afm/adobe/concorde .

You may need to create these directories first.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive poc.zip
---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive poc.zip in the directory "texmf" of
your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Certain TeX systems require manually updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a
| previous release of this collection!
|

The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the Berthold ConcordeBE fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

  * teTeX
  * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for ConcordeBE is
"poc.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map/dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files are installed using the shell
script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0 and later (or teTeX-beta as
of June 2002 and later) execute the following commands:

  texhash
  updmap --enable Map poc.map

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
how to use the "updmap" script. In case your version of
teTeX has no such script at all, please consult the teTeX
docmentation how to install the additional map file poc.map.

Configuring VTeX/Free (v8.00 and later)
---------------------------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
poc.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting a record
for poc.ali into each of the configuration files

  texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
  texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "poc.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of
the above-mentioned files:

TYPE1 {
  ...
  poc.ali
  }

Using the ConcordeBE fonts with LaTeX
-------------------------------------
See the file concorde.txt, which resides in the directory
texmf/doc/fonts/adobe.
