 LaTeX support files for commercial Type1 fonts
============================================================
 Walter Schmidt
 w-a-schmidt(at)gmx.net

The material provided here serves to use various commercial
PostScript Type1 font families with LaTeX. Notice that the
actual font files are _not_ distributed from CTAN; they need
to be purchased. (Fonts marked with an asterisk can be
downloaded for free, even though they must not be
distributed via CTAN.)

Each `font pack' is made up from a .zip archive accompanied
by a .txt file providing the related installation
instructions. In most cases the filenames reflect the
"canonical" names of the related font families.

In a few cases, the related fontinst sources are provided,
too. These archives carry names ending with "-sources.zip".

Each font pack may be distributed individually under the
conditions of the LaTeX Project Public License; see the
"legal notice" in the particular .txt file.

Distributing the contents of a font pack in uncompressed
(=installed) form is generally not encouraged. If you
really need to do so (for instance, if you are distributing
also the related fonts), please contact me.

 Bitstream Humanist 777 font pack for LaTeX
============================================================
 2004-08-08
 Walter Schmidt
 w.a.schmidt(at)gmx.net

This bundle includes all required files for using the
Bitstream Humanist 777 (Frutiger) Type1 fonts with LaTeX on
the Un*x or PC platform. It does _not_ include the actual
Type1 fonts, which are to be purchased from Bitstream or
Corel.

The below installation instructions assume a TDS-compliant
TeX system, such as teTeX, MikTeX or VTeX/Free. Yet they
may not exactly fit your particular TeX system; please,
consult its documentation, too! The directory name "texmf"
refers to the root directory of a TDS directory tree. In
case your TeX systems has more than one directory tree, its
documentation should tell you where to install new files.

Change Log
----------
2004-08-08
 Fixed a potential bug in the macro package

2003-10-08
 New package bfrutiger.sty and changed fd files to
 support scaling. Metrics, VFs and map files are
 unchanged.

2003-06-24
 Changed ZIP file structure and directory layout. Updated
 installation instructions wrt/ teTeX 2.0 and VTeX 8. Note
 that the actual font metrics are unchanged!

2002-07-21
 The Euro symbol, which is present in the in the latest
 release of Bitstream's fonts, is supported.

Installing the Type1 font files
-------------------------------
The Type1 font files are to be renamed for use with TeX.
The original file names may vary, depending on whether you
have acquired the font files from Bitstream or Corel:

Bitstream: Corel: TeX:
0855A___.PFB HUM777L.PFB -> bfrl8a.pfb
0856A___.PFB HUM777LI.PFB -> bfrli8a.pfb
0857A___.PFB HUM777N.PFB -> bfrr8a.pfb
0858A___.PFB HUM777I.PFB -> bfrri8a.pfb
0859A___.PFB HUM777B.PFB -> bfrb8a.pfb
0860A___.PFB HUM777BI.PFB -> bfrbi8a.pfb
0861A___.PFB HUM777K.PFB -> bfrc8a.pfb
0862A___.PFB HUM777KI.PFB -> bfrci8a.pfb

The .pfb files are to be copied to the directory

 texmf/fonts/type1/bitstrea/frutiger

of your TeX system. The related .afm files are to be
renamed accordingly; install them into the directory

 texmf/fonts/afm/bitstrea/frutiger .

You may need to create these directories first.

Removing obsolete files
-----------------------
In case you install this collection over any previous release,
delete the file texmf/vtex/config/bfr.ali now.

In case you install this collection over the 2000-06-26
release, the directory

 texmf/tex/latex/bitstrea/frutiger/

and the file

 texmf/doc/latex/bitstrea/frutiger.pdf .

are to be deleted manually.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive bfr.zip
---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive bfr.zip in the directory "texmf" of
your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Certain TeX systems require manually updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a
| previous release of this collection!
|

The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the <Supplier> <Family> fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * teTeX
 * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for Hmanist777 is
"bfr.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map/dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files are installed using the shell
script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0 and later (or teTeX-beta as
of June 2002 and later) execute the following commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map bfr.map

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
how to add new map files to the system.

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
bfr.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting a record
for bfr.ali into each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "bfr.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of
the above-mentioned files:

TYPE1 {
 ...
 bfr.ali
 }

In case you are still using VTeX/Free 7.x (as opposed to
v8.x), copy the file bfr.ali from texmf/fonts/map/vtex to
the directory texmf/vtex/config.

Euro support
------------
Using the Euro symbol of the Humansist 777 fonts with LaTeX
needs a recent version of the file 8r.enc. If your LaTeX
system includes at least version 9.0 of the PSNFSS
subsystem, this requirement is fulfilled. Otherwise you
should update the file 8r.enc; the current version is
available as <http://tug.org/fontname/8r.enc>. Copy this
file into the directory texmf/dvips/psnfss/ (or with
VTeX/Free into texmf/vtex/enc/). Make sure that there is no
other, possibly obsolete, instance of this file in any
directory below texmf/dvips!

Using the Humanist 777 fonts with LaTeX
---------------------------------------
See the file frutiger.txt, which resides in the directory
texmf/doc/fonts/bitstrea.

Legal notice
-----------
The Humanist 777 font pack is made up from the files
bfr.txt and bfr.zip.

 Copyright (c) 2002--2004 Walter Schmidt

It may be distributed and/or modified under the conditions
of the LaTeX Project Public License, either version 1.3 of
this license or (at your option) any later version.

 Bitstream News Gothic font pack for LaTeX
============================================================
 2004-06-09
 WalterSchmidt
 w.a.schmidt(at)gmx.net

This bundle includes all files required to use the Bitstream
News Gothic Type1 fonts with LaTeX on the Un*x or PC
platform. It does _not_ include the actual Type1 fonts,
which are to be purchased from Bitstream.

What's new?
----------
2004-06-09
 The Euro symbol is supported, if you have got a
 sufficiently recent version of the fonts.
 Minor improvements to the kerning tables.
 Location of the font mapping files changed wrt/ TDS 1.0.
 English documentation.

2002-06-02:
 Added kerning data for umlauts.
 OT1-Encoding is no longer supported.
 TDS-compliant archive structure

Updating from a previous release
--------------------------------
In case you install this collection over any previous
release, the file

 texmf/vtex/config/bng.ali

is to be deleted manually

In case you install this collection over the 2000-12-04
release, the file

 texmf/doc/latex/bitstrea/newsgth.txt

and the directories

 texmf/tex/latex/bitstrea/newsgth
 texmf/fonts/tfm/bitstrea/newsgth
 texmf/fonts/vf/bitstrea/newsgth

are to be deleted manually.

Installing the Type1 font files
-------------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a
| previous release of this collection, unless you
| actually intend to install new version of the fonts.
|

The Type1 fonts, as supplied by Bitstream, are to be renamed
for use with TeX. The original file named may differ,
depending on whether you have obtained the fonts from
Bitstream or Corel:

Bitstream: Corel: TeX:
0047A___.PFB newsgotn.pfb bngr8a.pfb
0048A___.PFB newsgoti.pfb bngri8a.pfb
0049A___.PFB newsgotb.pfb bngb8a.pfb
0050A___.PFB newgotbi.pfb bngbi8a.pfb
0949A___.PFB newsgotd.pfb bngd8a.pfb
0950A___.PFB newsgtdi.pfb bngdi8a.pfb

Copy them to the directory

 texmf/fonts/type1/bitstrea/newsgth

of your TeX system. Rename the .afm files accordingly
and copy them to:

 texmf/fonts/afm/bitstrea/newsgth

Most likely, you will have to create these directories
first.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive bng.zip
---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive bng.zip in the directory "texmf" of
your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Many TeX systems require manual updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a

|

The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the Bitstream News Gothic fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used. The

Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * teTeX
 * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for News Gothic is
"bng.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map /dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files (here bng.map) are installed using
the shell script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0 and later (or
teTeX-beta as of June 2002 and later) execute the following
commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map bng.map

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
how to install an additional map file.

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
bng.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting an
appropriate record ito each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "bng.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of
the above-mentioned files:

TYPE1 {
 ...
 bng.ali
 }

In case you are still using VTeX/Free 7.x (as opposed to
v8.x), copy the file bng.ali from texmf/fonts/map/vtex to
the directory texmf/vtex/config.

Using the Bitstream News Gothic fonts with LaTeX

 Bitstream Venentian 301 (Centaur) font pack
 for LaTeX
============================================================
 2004-07-22
 WalterSchmidt
 w.a.schmidt(at)gmx.net

This bundle includes all files required to use Bitstreams's
"Venetian 301" font family in Type1 format with LaTeX on the
Un*x or PC platform. It does _not_ include the actual Type1
fonts, which are to be purchased from Bitstream or Corel.

Change log
----------
2004-07-22
 changed location of font mapping files wrt/ TDS 1 specs

Removing obsolete files
-----------------------
In case you install this package over the version from
2000-06-29, the directory

 texmf/tex/latex/bitstrea/centaur/

and the files

 texmf/doc/latex/bitstrea/centaur.pdf
 texmf/vtex/config/bur.ali

are to be deleted manually. Rationale: The macro files
reside in the directory texmf/tex/latex/blg now, the
location of the font mapping file for VTeX has been
cgangedwrt/ TDS 1.0, and the documentation has been moved to
the directory texmf/doc/fonts/bitstrea. Thus, unpacking of
the new .zip archiv alone would not overwrite the obsolete
files.

Installing the Type1 font files
-------------------------------
The Type1 fonts, as supplied by Bitstrem or Corel are to be
renamed for use with TeX.

Bitstream: Corel: TeX:
1095A___.PFB ven301n.pfb -> burr8a.pfb
1096A___.PFB ven301i.pfb -> burri8a.pfb
1097A___.PFB ven301d.pfb -> burd8a.pfb
1098A___.PFB ven301di.pfb -> burdi8a.pfb
1099A___.PFB ven301b.pfb -> burb8a.pfb
1100A___.PFB ven301bi.pfb -> burbi8a.pfb

Copy them to the directory

 texmf/fonts/type1/bitstrea/centaur

of your TeX system. Rename the .afm files accordingly and
copy them to:

 texmf/fonts/afm/bitstrea/centaur

Most likely, you will have to create these directories
first.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive bur.zip
---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive bur.zip in the directory "texmf"
of your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Many TeX systems require manual updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a
| previous release of this collection!
|

The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the Bitstream Venetian301 fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * teTeX
 * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for Venetian301 is
"bur.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map/dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files (here bur.map) are installed using
the shell script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0 and later (or
teTeX-beta as of June 2002 and later) execute the following
commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map bur.map

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
about how to add new map files to the system.

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
bur.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting an
appropriate record ito each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "bur.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of
the above-mentioned files:

TYPE1 {
 ...
 bur.ali
 }

In case you are still using VTeX/Free 7.x (as opposed to
v8.x), copy the .ali file from texmf/fonts/map/vtex to the
directory texmf/vtex/config.

Most likely, you will have to create these directories
first.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive las.zip
---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive las.zip in the directory "texmf"
of your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Many TeX systems require manual updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a
| previous release of this collection!
|

The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the Linotype Aldus fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * teTeX
 * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for Aldus is
"las.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map/dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files (here las.map) are installed using
the shell script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0 and later (or
teTeX-beta as of June 2002 and later) execute the following
commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map las.map

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
about how to add new map files to the system.

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
las.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting an
appropriate record ito each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "las.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of
the above-mentioned files:

TYPE1 {
 ...
 las.ali
 }

In case you are still using VTeX/Free 7.x (as opposed to
v8.x), copy the .ali file from texmf/fonts/map/vtex to the
directory texmf/vtex/config.

Using the Linotype Aldus fonts with LaTeX
--------------------------------------
See the file aldus.txt, which resides in the directory
texmf/doc/fonts/linotype

 Linotype Melior font pack as of 2004-01-29
============================================================
 Walter Schmidt
 w.a.schmidt(at)gmx.net

This collection includes tfm, vf, fd and map files to use
Linotypes "Melior" PostScript fonts with LaTeX on the
Un*x or PC platform. It does _not_ include the actual Type1
fonts, which are to be purchased from Linotype.

The below installation instructions assume a TDS-compliant
TeX system, such as teTeX, fpTeX, MikTeX or VTeX/Free. The
directory name "texmf" refers to the root directory of the
TDS directory tree. In case your TeX systems has more than
one such directory tree, the documentation should tell you
where to install new files.

Installing the Melior Type1 fonts
---------------------------------
The Type1 fonts, as supplied by Linotype, are to be renamed
for use with TeX:

FontName: Linotype: TeX:
MeliorLT lte50062.pfb -> lmlr8a.pfb
MeliorLT-Italic lte50063.pfb -> lmlri8a.pfb
MeliorLT-Bold lte50064.pfb -> lmlb8a.pfb
MeliorLT-BoldItalic lte50065.pfb -> lmlbi8a.pfb

Copy them to the directory

 texmf/fonts/type1/linotype/melior/

of your TeX system. Rename the .afm files accordingly and
put them into texmf/fonts/afm/linotype/melior/.

Installing the support files
----------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive lml.zip in the directory "texmf"
of your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Certain TeX systems require manually updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the <Supplier> <Family> fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * teTeX
 * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for Melior is
"lml.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map/dvips.

Configuring teTeX:
Use the shell script "updmap" to add the font map file named
"lml.map" to the configuration. See the documentation of
your particular teTeX version how to use the script. With
teTeX 2.0 and above, execute the following commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map lml.map

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
about how to add new map files to the system.

Configuring VTeX/Free:
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
lml.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting a record
for this file into each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

"lml.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of the
above-mentioned files:

 TYPE1 {
 ...
 lml.ali
 }

In case you are still using VTeX/Free 7.x (as opposed to
v8.x), copy the .ali file from texmf/fonts/map/vtex to the
directory texmf/vtex/config.

Using the Melior fonts with LaTeX
---------------------------------
See the file melior.txt, which should now reside in the
directory texmf/doc/fonts/linotype/.

Legal notice
------------
The Linotype Melior font pack is made up from the files
lml.txt and lml.zip.

 Linotype Minion font pack for LaTeX
============================================================
 2004-04-13
 WalterSchmidt
 w.a.schmidt(at)gmx.net

This bundle includes all files required to use Linotype's
Minion PostScript fonts with LaTeX on the Un*x or PC
platform. It does _not_ include the actual Type1 fonts,
which are to be purchased from Linotype. See below for the
list of all fonts used.

Math typesetting is supported in two flavors:

 First, you may use the free Euler typefaces, wich are
 available with any decent TeX system.

 Alternatively, use the commercial MathTime and MathTime
 Plus fonts from Y&Y <http://www.yandy.com/mathtime.htm>.
 Additional support files to mix Minion with MathTime are
 provided in the present collection.

Notice that the present support files were created from the
version of the Minion fonts, that was provided on version
1.6 of the CD-ROM "Linotype Gold Edition" as of July 2002.
They cannot be used with earlier versions of the fonts.

| On VTeX, you should not install both Linotype's and
| Adobe's Minion fonts simultaneously. Rationale: Part of
| the fonts in both collections are identical, and
| installing distinct font files with the same internal
| FontNames is likely to confuse the PostScript interpreter
| (GeX)

Change log
----------
2004-04-13
 mathlmnt.sty, version 2.1: Math alphabet \mathbold removed;
 please, use \bm (from package bm.sty) instead.

2004-03-14
 Changed location of font map file lmn.ali in the
 distribution; it is now distributed both in dvips/config
 and in fonts/map/dvips, so as to comply with the future
 teTeX.
 Package mathlmnt.sty, new version 2.0a; Bug fix regarding
 the definitions of the upright Greek characters.

2003-12-01
 Virtual fonts for italic smallcaps (font shape "scit")
 added; they may be useful in conjunction with H.Harders'
 macro package slantsc.sty.
 Minor bug fix in the kerning table of the regular
 smallcaps.

2003-10-28
 Virtual mathlmnt fonts fixed: With previous versions,
 the letters v and w in math mode were taken from Times
 rather than Minion.

2003-10-17
 The package mathlmnt.sty provides a bold-cursive math
 alphabet now. The virtual fonts are unchanged.

2003-08-19
 Fixed kerning of Lsmall-Ysmall in the smallcaps.
 VFs and metrics now made using latest fontinst 1.926.

2003-07-22
 A full upright Greek alphabet is now available with
 mathlmnt.sty and the related virtual math fonts.
 The text fonts are unchanged

2003-07-08
 Improved kerning data for german umlauts (once again ;-)
 All kerning pairs < 5 units removed.

The .pfb files are to be copied to the directory

 texmf/fonts/type1/linotype/sabon

of your TeX system. The related .afm files should also be
renamed accordingly and installed into the directory

 texmf/fonts/afm/linotype/sabon

Most likely, you need to create these directories first.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive lsb.zip
---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive lsb.zip in the directory "texmf" of
your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Certain TeX systems require manually updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a
| previous release of this collection!
|

The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the Linotype Sabon fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * teTeX
 * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for Sabon is
"lsb.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map/dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files are installed using the shell
script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0 and later (or teTeX-beta as
of June 2002 and later) execute the commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map lsb.map

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
how to use the "updmap" script, or how to install the
additional font map file lsb.map.

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
lsb.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting a record
for this font map file into each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "lsb.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of
the above-mentioned files:

TYPE1 {
 ...
 lsb.ali
 }

In case you are still using VTeX/Free 7.x (as opposed to
v8.x), copy the .ali file from texmf/fonts/map/vtex to the
directory texmf/vtex/config.

Using the Sabon fonts with LaTeX
--------------------------------
See the file sabon.txt, which resides in the directory
texmf/doc/fonts/linotype.

Legal notice
------------
The "Linotype Sabon" font pack is made up from the files
lsb.txt and lsb.zip.

Most likely, you will have to create these directories
first.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive pad.zip
---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive pad.zip in the directory "texmf" of
your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Many TeX systems require manual updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
The following steps vary, according to your TeX system.
There are different sets of instructions provided for

 * teTeX (2.0 and later)
 * VTeX/Free (8.44 and later)

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for AGaramond is
"pad.map" (if you have got the fonts from Adobe) or
"pad-LT.map", you you have installed the Linotype fonts.
Two copies of each file reside in the directories
texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map /dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files (here: pad-map or pad-LT.map) are
installed using the shell script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0
and later (or teTeX-beta as of June 2002 and later) execute
the following commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map pad.map

if you have got the fonts from Adobe, or

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map pad-LT.map

for the fonts from Linotype.

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
how to use the "updmap" script.

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
pad.ali (for the Adobe fonts) or pad-LT.ali (Linotype).
This is usually accomplished by putting a record for the
particular .ali file into each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "pad.ali" or "pad-LT.ali" is to be added to the
TYPE1 section of the above-mentioned files, e.g.:

TYPE1 {
 ...
 pad.ali
 }

Using the Adobe Garamond fonts with LaTeX
-----------------------------------------
See the file agaramon.txt, which resides in the directory
texmf/doc/fonts/adobe.

============================================================
 2004-09-28
 WalterSchmidt
 w.a.schmidt(at)gmx.net

This bundle includes all files required to use the "Adobe
Futura" Type1 fonts with LaTeX on the Un*x or PC platform.
It does _not_ include the actual Type1 fonts, which are to
be purchased from either Adobe or Linotype.

The following fonts of the Futura family are supported:

 Futura Light
 Futura Light Oblique
 Futura Book
 Futura Book Oblique
 Futura Bold
 Futura Bold Oblique
 Futura Condensed Bold
 Futura Condensed Bold Oblique

The below installation instructions assume a TDS-compliant
TeX system, such as teTeX, MikTeX or VTeX/Free. Yet they
may not exactly fit your particular TeX system; please,
consult its documentation, too! The directory name "texmf"
refers to the root directory of a TDS directory tree. In
case your TeX systems has more than one directory tree, its
documentation should tell you where to install new files.

What's new?
-----------
2004-09-28
 completely new virtual fonts, made using fontinst 1.926;
 bold-condensed fonts are supported;
 macro package to support optional scaling;
 obsolete OT1 encoding is no longer supported;
 Euro symbols

Removing obsolete files
-----------------------
If you have installed a pre-2004 release of this collection,
remove it entirely before installing the present one.
In particular, delete the directories

 texmf/tex/latex/pfu
 texmf/fonts/tfm/adobe/futura
 texmf/fonts/vf/adobe/futura

and the files

 texmf/doc/fonts/adobe/futura.txt
 texmf/dvips/config/pfu.map
 texmf/vtex/config/pfu.map

and remove the font mapping information for the Futura fonts
from the configuration of the TeX applications.

Installing the Type1 font files from Adobe
------------------------------------------
Skip this section, if you have got the font files from
Linotype!

The Type1 fonts, as supplied by Adobe, are to be renamed for
use with TeX:

FontName: Adobe file name: TeX file name:
Futura-Bold fub_____.pfb pfub8a.pfb
Futura-BoldOblique fubo____.pfb pfubo8a.pfb
Futura-Light ful_____.pfb pful8a.pfb
Futura-LightOblique fulo____.pfb pfulo8a.pfb
Futura-Book fuw_____.pfb pfuk8a.pfb
Futura-BookOblique fuwo____.pfb pfuko8a.pfb
Futura-CondensedBold fucb____.pfb pfub8ac.pfb
Futura-CondensedBoldOblique fucbo___.pfb pfubo8ac.pfb
Copy them to the directory

 texmf/fonts/type1/adobe/futura

of your TeX system. Rename the .afm files accordingly and
copy them to:

 texmf/fonts/afm/adobe/futura

Most likely, you will have to create these directories
first.

Installing the Type1 font files from Linotype
---------------------------------------------
Skip this section, if you have got the font files from
Adobe!

The Type1 fonts, as supplied by Linotype, are to be renamed
for use with TeX:

FontName: Linotype file name: TeX file name:
FuturaLT-Light lte50150.pfb lful8a.pfb
FuturaLT-LightOblique lte50151.pfb lfulo8a.pfb
FuturaLT-Book lte50152.pfb lfuk8a.pfb
FuturaLT-BookOblique lte50153.pfb lfuko8a.pfb
FuturaLT-Bold lte50154.pfb lfub8a.pfb
FuturaLT-BoldOblique lte50155.pfb lfubo8a.pfb
FuturaLT-CondensedBold lte50196.pfb lfub8ac.pfb
FuturaLT-CondensedBoldOblique lte50197.pfb lfubo8ac.pfb

Copy them to the directory

 texmf/fonts/type1/linotype/futura

of your TeX system. Rename the .afm files accordingly and
copy them to:

 texmf/fonts/afm/linotype/futura

Most likely, you will have to create these directories
first.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive pfu.zip
---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive pfu.zip in the directory "texmf" of
your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Many TeX systems require manual updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
The following steps vary, according to your TeX system.
There are different sets of instructions provided for

 * teTeX (2.0 and later)
 * VTeX/Free (8.44 and later)

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for Futura is
"pfu.map" (if you have got the fonts from Adobe) or
"pfu-LT.map", you you have installed the Linotype fonts.
Two copies of each file reside in the directories
texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map /dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files (here: pfu-map or pfu-LT.map) are
installed using the shell script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0
and later (or teTeX-beta as of June 2002 and later) execute
the following commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map pfu.map

if you have got the fonts from Adobe, or

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map pfu-LT.map

for the fonts from Linotype.

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
how to use the "updmap" script.

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
pfu.ali (for the Adobe fonts) or pfu-LT.ali (Linotype).
This is usually accomplished by putting a record for the
particular .ali file into each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "pfu.ali" or "pfu-LT.ali" is to be added to the
TYPE1 section of the above-mentioned files, e.g.:

TYPE1 {
 ...
 pfu.ali
 }

Using the Adobe Futura fonts with LaTeX
-----------------------------------------
See the file futura.txt, which resides in the directory
texmf/doc/fonts/adobe.

 "Adobe Minion" font pack for LaTeX
============================================================
 2004-04-13
 WalterSchmidt
 w.a.schmidt(@)gmx.net

This bundle includes all files required to use the "Adobe
Minion" Type1 fonts with LaTeX on the Un*x or PC platform.
It does _not_ include the actual Type1 fonts, which are to
be purchased from Adobe. (packages # 143 and 144)

 After installing of the present collecion, more
 information can be found in the files
 texmf/do/fonts/adobe/pmn.txt and ./mathpmnt.pdf

The below installation instructions assume a TDS-compliant
TeX system, such as teTeX, MikTeX or VTeX/Free. Yet they
may not exactly fit your particular TeX system; please,
consult its documentation, too! The directory name "texmf"
refers to the root directory of a TDS directory tree. In
case your TeX systems has more than one directory tree, its
documentation should tell you where to install new files.

| On VTeX, you should not install both Linotype's and
| Adobe's Minion fonts simultaneously. Rationale: Part of
| the fonts in both collections are identical, and
| installing distinct font files with the same internal
| FontNames is likely to confuse the PostScript interpreter
| (GeX)

What's new?
-----------
2004-04-13
 mathpmnt.sty, version 2.1: Math alphabet \mathbold removed;
 please, use \bm (from package bm.sty) instead.

2004-03-14
 Changed location of font map file pmn.ali in the
 distribution; it is now distributed both in dvips/config
 and in fonts/map/dvips, so as to comply with the future
 teTeX.
 Package mathpmnt.sty, new version 2.0a; Bug fix regarding
 the definitions of the upright Greek characters.

2003-12-01
 Virtual fonts for italic smallcaps (font shape "scit")
 added; they may be useful in conjunction with H.Harders'
 macro package slantsc.sty.
 Minor bug fix in the kerning table of the regular
 smallcaps.

2003-10-18
 Virtual mathpmnt fonts fixed: With previous versions,
 the letters v and w in math mode were taken from Times
 rather than Minion.

2003-10-17
 The package mathpmnt.sty provides a bold-cursive math
 alphabet now. The documentation (mathpmnt.pdf) has been
 adapted accordingly. (The previous relase came with a
 wrong version of this document, anyway.) The virtual
 fonts are unchanged.

2003-08-19
 Fixed kerning of Lsmall-Ysmall in the smallcaps.

2003-07-22
 A full upright Greek alphabet is now available with
 mathpmnt.sty and the related virtual math fonts.
 The text fonts provide (faked) Euro symbols.
 All VFs and metrics heve been remade using the latest
 fontinst version 1.926.

2003-07-08
 Improved kerning data for german umlauts (once again ;-)
 All kerning pairs < 5 units removed.

2003-06-01
 Missing files added to ZIP archive.
 (sorry for the bug :-)

2003-05-29
 Improved kerning (e-V, Y-g, Y-s)

2003-05-12 (bug fixing release)
 Missing tfm and vf files added.
 Improved kerning of the text fonts.
 Slightly improved spacing in math mode (mathpmnt.sty).

2003-05-06:
 Math support added (mathpmnt.sty).
 Slightly improved kerning data, particularly in the
 smallcaps fonts.
 Changed location of the VTeX font mapping file pmn.ali.

2002-06-03:
 Improved kerning data for the German language.
 OT1 encoding is no longer supported.
 ZIP archives reflects TDS structure.

2001-04-07:
 Minion-Ormaments added

Removing absolete files
-----------------------
* In case you have installed the 2001-04-07 release of this
bundle, please delete the file

 texmf/doc/latex/adobe/minion.txt

and the directories

 texmf/tex/latex/adobe/minion
 texmf/fonts/tfm/adobe/minion
 texmf/fonts/vf/adobe/minion

before installing the present release.

* In case you have installed _any_ previous release and are

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Certain TeX systems require manually updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the Adobe Myriad fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * teTeX
 * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for Myriad is
"pmy.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map/dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Use the shell script "updmap" to add the font map file named
"pmy.map" to the configuration. See the documentation of
your particular teTeX version how to use the script. With
teTeX 2.0 and above, execute the following commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map pmy.map

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
pmy.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting a record
for this file into each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

"pmy.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of the
above-mentioned files:

Certain TeX systems require manually updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a
| previous release of this collection!
|

The present distribution comprises several font map files
for the Adobe Sabon fonts. You need to configure
your TeX system so that these files are actually used.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * teTeX
 * VTeX/Free

With other TeX systems such as MikTeX, consult the related
documentation how to install an additional font map file.
The name of the map file to be used for Sabon is
"psb.map". Two copies of this file reside in the
directories texmf/dvips/config and texmf/fonts/map/dvips.

Configuring teTeX
-----------------
Additional font map files (here psb.map) are installed using
the shell script "updmap". With teTeX-2.0 and later (or
teTeX-beta as of June 2002 and later) execute the following
commands:

 texhash
 updmap --enable Map psb.map

With earlier versions of teTeX, consult its documentation
how to install an additional map file.

Configuring VTeX/Free
---------------------
Make VTeX read the additional font map ("aliasing") file
psb.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting an
appropriate record ito each of the configuration files

 texmf/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 texmf/vtex/config/ps.fm

The name "psb.ali" is to be added to the TYPE1 section of
the above-mentioned files:

TYPE1 {
 ...
 psb.ali
 }

In case you are still using VTeX/Free 7.x (as opposed to
v8.x), copy the file psb.ali from texmf/fonts/map/vtex to
the directory texmf/vtex/config.

Using the Sabon fonts with LaTeX

 "FF QType Extended Book" font pack for LaTeX
============================================================
 2005-08-01
 WalterSchmidt
 w-a-schmidt(at)gmx.net

This bundle includes all files required to use the Type1
font "FF QType Extended Book" with LaTeX on a Unix, Windows,
or OS/2 platform. It does _not_ include the actual Type1
font, which can be downloaded for free from FontFonts's web
site. (Because of legal restrctions, it cannot be
distributed via CTAN.)

The layout of the distribution and the related installation
instructions suit recent, TDS-compliant TeX systems such as
teTeX, MikTeX or VTeX/Free.

Installation paths
------------------
The files of your TeX system are arranged in one or more
tree structures, the so-called "texmf trees". The names and
paths of the particular root directories of these trees vary
between different TeX systems. In the following
instructions the install paths are indicated in a form such
as, for instance:

 <texmf>/fonts/type1/...

<texmf> stands for the the actual name of the root directory
of the texmf tree, where you want to install the files:

teTeX and MikTeX require additional files to be installed in
a particular "local" tree (rather than in the one where the
default components of the TeX system reside). Its path must
either be indicated in the documentation of the TeX system
or you should have defined it yourself upon installation.
With MikTeX, for instance, the root directory of the "local"
texmf tree is usually "c:\localtexmf", so you would in fact
have to substitute

 c:\localtexmf\fonts\type1\...

for the path name in the above example.

VTeX/Free, in contrast, has only one single texmf tree,
whose root directory is normally "/usr/local/vtex/texmf" (on
Linux) or "c:\texmf" (on OS/2).

Note that paths are indicated in "Unix notation" (i.e.,
using slashes as directory separators), unless they are
specific for Win or OS/2.

Downloading and installing the Type1 font file
----------------------------------------------
Download a ZIP archive containing the font FF QType
Extended Book" in Type1 format from the FontFont web site:

 <http://www.fontfont.com/downloads/QType-WinPS.zip>

Unpack QType-WinPS.zip in a temporary directory. The Type1
font, i.e., the file

 QTEtBo__.pfb

must be moved to the directory

 <texmf>/fonts/type1/fontfont/qtype

of your TeX system. Move the related .afm file accordingly
to:

 <texmf>/fonts/afm/fontfont/qtype

Most likely, you will have to create these directories
first.

Installing the TeX support files from the archive qtype.zip
..---------------------------------------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive qtype.zip in the directory <texmf>,
i.e., in root directory of the TeX file tree, where you want
to install the present collection. Thus, all files will end
up in the appropriate directories.

Updating the filename database
------------------------------
Many TeX systems require manual updating of a "filename
database" after adding of new files. Please, consult the
documentation of your TeX system!

Configuring your TeX system
---------------------------
|
| You need not repeat this step, when updating from a
| previous release of this collection!
|

The present distribution includes several font map files for
the <Supplier> <Family> fonts. You need to configure your
TeX system so that an appropriate file will be used in fact.
The required steps depend on the particular TeX system.
Particular sets of instructions are provided below for the
following systems:

 * MikTeX 2.4 and later
 * VTeX/Free 8 and later

With other TeX systems such as teTeX or TeXLive, consult the
related documentation how to install an additional font map
file. The name of the map file to be used for QType is
"qtype.map". Two identical copies of this file reside in
the directories <texmf>/dvips/config and
<texmf>/fonts/map/dvips/qtype.

* Configuring MikTeX 2.4+
Edit the file <texmf>\miktex\config\updmap.cfg. (In case it
does not yet exist, create it as a new file.) Add the line

 Map qtype.map

and save the file; then execute the following commands
in a command line window ("DOS shell"):

 initexmf -u
 updmap

* Configuring VTeX/Free 8+
Make VTeX read the additional font mapping file
qtype.ali. This is usually accomplished by putting an
appropriate record into each of the configuration files

 <texmf>/vtex/config/pdf.fm
and
 <texmf>/vtex/config/ps.fm

Edit these files; in each file add "qtype.ali"
to the TYPE1 section:

 TYPE1 {
 ...
 qtype.ali
 }

 Linotype Zapfino font pack as of 2004-01-01
============================================================
 Walter Schmidt
 w.a.schmidt(at)gmx.net

This collection includes tfm, vf, fd and map files to use
the Linotype Zapfino-One and Zapfino-Ornaments Type1 fonts
with LaTeX on the Un*x or PC platform. It does _not_
include the actual font files, which are to be purchased
from Linotype.

|
| Note that the Zapfino-Two and Zapfino-Three fonts are not
| (yet) supported.

Installing the Zapfino Type1 fonts
----------------------------------
The Type1 fonts, as supplied by Linotype, need NOT to be
renamed for use with TeX (because they don't fit into the KB
naming scheme, anyway). Just store the following .pfb files
in the directory texmf/fonts/type1/linotype/zapfino/:

FontName: file name:
LinotypeZapfino-One lt_54223.pfb
LinotypeZapfino-Ornaments lzorn___.pfb

On Unix, make sure that the file names are lower case! The
related .afm files should be installed into the directory
texmf/fonts/afm/linotype/zapfino/.

Installing the support files
----------------------------
Unpack the ZIP archive zap.zip in the directory "texmf"
of your TeX system; thus, all files will be copied to the
appropriate directories.
