\chapter{Creating address files from a address database}%
\label{cha:addrconv}%
\index{address file}%
\IndexPackage{addrconv}

In former versions of \KOMAScript{} the package
\Package{addrconv} was a permanent part of
the \KOMAScript{} sytem.

The chief involvment with \KOMAScript{} was
that with the help of \Package{addrconv}
it was possible to create address files
from a address database in \BibTeX{} format.
Next the address file could be used for
the \KOMAScript{} letter class or with
the package \Package{scraddr}.

\begin{small}
\begin{verbatim}
  @address{HMUS,
     name =      {Carl McExample},
     title =     {Dr.},
     city =      {Anywhere},
     zip =       01234,
     country =   {Great Britain},
     street =    {A long Road},
     phone =     {01234 / 5 67 89},
     note =      {always forget his birthday},
     key =       {HMUS},
  }
\end{verbatim}
\end{small}

From entries, as can be seen above, address files
can be generated.
For this \Package{addrconv} employs \BibTeX{} and
some \BibTeX{} styles.
Additionally there are some \LaTeX{} files which
help to create various telephon and address lists for
printing.

The package \Package{addrconv} was indeed a separate
package, since besides what is required for
\KOMAScript{} it includes some interessting features
more.
Therefore the package \Package{addrconv},
as announced in the previous \KOMAScript{} release,
is removed from the \KOMAScript{} system.

The package \Package{adrconv}, only one \emph{d},
replaces \Package{addrconv} entirely.
If it is not included in your \TeX{} distribution then
it can be downloaded from \cite{package:adrconv} and
you can install it separately.
