Multi-page viewing

With PS_View it is possible to work in multi-page mode, i.e., to display simultaneously several consecutive document pages. The distance between the pages, measured relative to their bounding boxes is set in a dialog window activated with Options -> Set multipage -> Distance.

Options -> Set multipage -> 2x1 causes two consecutive pages to be displayed next to each other (e.g., a spread).

The 2x1 reverse, 1x2, 1x2 reverse commands make two consecutive pages to be displayed in reversed order or one above the other.

m x n places a number of pages on the screen in a  m × n table, where the table's dimensions are being entered in a dialog window.

Permutation allows selecting one of the eight predefined permutations offered in a dialog window by displaying their layout in 2 × 2 tables. For bigger tables we assume that the rows (columns) contain consecutive pages and so are displayed in the order hinted to by the combination in the 2 × 2 table. This doesn't exhaust all possibilities. Other permutations are also possible, although less conveniently. E.g., entering (into the console window) 3 2 [1 2 3 4 5 6] multipage will display the pages 1 to 6 in normal order, arranged into a 3 × 2 table. Trying out of other combinations is left to the curious reader.

Vertical tape causes the document to be displayed as a "movie tape'', with pages arranged one over the next. Moving up or down one can access neighboring pages.

The commands from the Pages menu give in multi-page mode access to the next page bundle with the page numbers increased by a multiple of the bundle's size. The positions of the pages are left unchanged. The page numbers are always displayed in the status bar.

A special set of the menu commands, Options -> Set multipage -> Bundle, comprises operations for moving the page bundle's content. For example, the Page down command deletes the lowest numbered page from the bundle and adds to it the following page. If a number was entered as the parameter for the command, the action will be performed the specified mumber of times. The remaining commands from that group are performed in a similar manner.

Switching on the menu option Options -> Set multipage -> Cycle on will cause "adding'' of the final document pages before its first page and "adding'' of the first document pages after its last page so the bundles are always full, if only the document contains enough pages. This feature might e.g., be used to view both the last and first page of the document as a spread.
